what college course would i have to take to become a human resources manager?
okay, first of all, i do not want to become a human resources manager because it was one of the high paying jobs listed on the yahoo news thing. ive wanted to be a psycologist, but i seemed like i couldnt relate to other people's problems, so i decided, why dont i become the human resources thing? please give me advice. my mom is pressuring me to pick a job already, she doesnt even care if i'd make minimum wage. she wants an answer. also, how many years in college do i have to finish?

Because I have answered many of your scary mental health questions on this forum, for example "Why doesn't cutting myself work anymore?" and "should I kill myself?", and other like questions, I think you need to get some serious psychiatric and physchological counseling before you do anything even REMOTELY connected with human services. I mean, come on, are you kidding me?????? I took a gander at your profile and questions you have asked when I discovered myself answering MANY seriously mentally ill questions in this forum. Not to be mean, but out of concern. I think you are very intelligent and have the capacity to do whatever you wish in life, AFTER you address and resolve all these other issues. Take care sweetie.

What does a Human Resource Management Certificate do for me
What does a Human Resource Management Certificate do for me?
It's going to be my final year at my four year institute and I have the opportunity to take the HR Management courses that (upon finishing) will award me with the Human Resource Management Certificate. My studies thus far have been focusing on Business Management and Mandarin Language. Ideally I'll be looking for positions within media management but part of the reason I've done business studies is that you can apply it to almost anything. Does getting this certification mean anything? Will it help me get a job coming out of school? Any information would be appreciated.

it depends on what you WANT to do in your career, and what you enjoy. i would take industrial psych, because i know i enjoy it, and i don't really care about human resources. JR puts you more in a management path. Industrial psych puts you more in an engineering path.

Human Resources Management doesn't deal with a great deal of math, but you WILL need to understand basic accounting principles. These are usually fairly simple; if you can understand basic algebra and work a calculator, you should be fine! I'm pursuing my MBA with an emphasis on HR, and I've had to take a great deal of extra accounting and economic related courses, but for under graduate studies, you'll learn the basics of payroll accounting and it really isn't that hard once you grasp the basic concepts! A great deal of HR deals with concepts and case law.
