Which is a better business major with more options/money- management or human resource management

Which is a better business major with more options/money- management or human resource management?
I live close to Huntsville ,Al. It is full of defense contractors, the Redstone Arsenal, etc. I am interested in having a government job. Would I be better served with a major in human resource management or general management? Of course, I know H.R will often involve staffing, training, etc. But I definitely dont want a job in retail or anything like that. Which major is more versatile and will bring me better options? Which major will generate more income in the long run? My husband is wanting to take management of technology ,but not sure its for me. Isnt that dealing with a lot of technical computer stuff?? Just looking for thoughts. I know I am interested in a Business degree(but not Finance or Accounting) Give me your thoughts. Thanks

major(s) and Minor(s) are like left hand(s) and right (hand(s). You need to select a pair which will compliment each other. The major is not always the most important. it depends on whether your balance is important , or if your topic is important! You would also want to correlate with your husband and his major and minor, to find a balance there also. if the two of you correlate, and balance corectly, your journies into yourselves can be very enlightening, suportive, and self promoting, and progressively profitable. I personally believe college is overrated. I believe a self can teach a self best, and be more versatile. I as a master researcher, research many topics in overlapping projects. (MULTI-TASKING MY OWN EDUCATION)! This allows me to finish a topic about every week, even though i have been studying it for three years.

It is ashame that Finance and accounting is not an option for you. These two majors are the bread and butter of business and will provide you with a wider range of job opportunities. Depending on how smart you are, you may want to consider a business degree with an emphasis on economic. It is my opinion that this sort of degree is the most versatile and will not only open up many opportunities for you but will also allow you to advance in your career. However, economics is very difficult and EXTREMELY math intensive. If it is the math that is pushing away from finance and accounting then econ is not for you.

generally a psychology undergraduate degree/ business degree is a good major for this for entry level. there is a association for Human resource professionals training certification that is nice to have as well. i believe it is achieved web based / has network / forum / job info. in a smaller company you may be able to enter without degree and get some experience . jump to larger company. it's good to have degree though. you come in and they begin to pay for your MBA as you work. Once you are in generalist HR .. you will see more speciality areas of that branch out. recruiting/ staffing / training / talent rentetion . leadership development / compensation / benefits/ etc. etc. etc. Each have VP's, directors and mangement teams.

But I guess recently I have been setting my mind on HRD, but before that I was thinking of Marketing and advertising. Now, i just wanna know what's good to take up and to major. and also what opportunities each could give and what makes them good in their own ways. thanks in advance..

Look at it this way: if it does make a bad impression, is that really a place you really want to work? Simply call back and say you would like clarification as to whether what you thought you heard was correct.
